I wrote my university dissertation in 2016 about the topic of photogrammetry. However, I didn’t use the technology too often after that, because it requires enormous computing power and my hardware was simply not sufficient at the time. In 2020, I invested in a new work computer. This new acquisition allows me now to perform processes with more power and to finally perform interesting 3D scans. In this post I show a few of my 3D scans.
Meopta Flexaret Automat VII
I bought the great Meopta Flexaret Automat VII on Ebay a year ago. It was in reasonably good condition, but the leather covering had unfortunately suffered, so I decided to carefully detach it and dye it with eggshell colored leather paint. As a special challenge I tried to capture it as a 3D scan. Especially difficult is the capture of reflective areas, these can be detected by the 3D scanner only poorly. It took a few attempts until the scan worked.
Old Hiking Shoes
An old hiking shoe that my father wore many years ago during a small world trip in China. So the shoe has been around a lot and has a long history behind it. I have uploaded it as a freebie so that everyone can use it.
A second pair of shoes from my father I have also scanned.
The scan was intended for the project „The Mountains of Garbage“ to place the shoes there as garbage items.
Old electricity fence box
During the clearing of a garden shed, this old piece came to light, should already have several decades behind it. It is a power distributor and pulse generator for an electric fence. inside is a kind of pendulum that is moved by a magnet and emits a short but strong electricity at regular intervals.
